Yet because these outdoor rooms can quickly become unsightly and even unsafe if they are not built of the proper materials, they can be particularly challenging for architects. Roofing products are not intended for pedestrian traffic. Protective carpet or wood can be placed over the roofing, but are susceptible to damage from the elements. Applied coatings and fiberglass have been used with limited success due to the inherent deficiencies in the materials themselves. With walkable, waterproof decks being so problematic, many architects and building officials have shied away from them.

• To renew your Roofing Contractors License in the state of Minnesota, you are required to complete 7 hours of continuing education every year.
• All licenses expire on March 31, regardless of date of issuance. Continuing education must be completed prior to expiration. Excess continuing education hours may not be carried over.
• During first renewal cycle licensees must complete a 1-hour continuing education course relating to lead abatement procedures. During each continuing education cycle licensees must complete a minimum of 1 hour of education relating to energy codes for buildings and other building codes designed to conserve energy.
• Do not submit continuing education completion certificates. Keep the certificate in your records in the event of an audit by the Board to ensure continuing education compliance.
