Here is a list of the Minnesota real estate appraiser continuing education currently under development.

  • Appraisal Methods - This online course covers the understanding of the appraisal methods. Students will learn the principles of value, the three approaches to value - sales comparison, cost, and income, reconciliation and gross monthly rent multipliers.
  • Review of the USPAP Changes - Reviews the current changes in the USPAP. This covers topics such as definitions, ethics rules, competency rules, jurisdictional exception, and scope of work.
  • The Appraisal Process - The purpose of this course is to provide students with knowledge and understanding of the appraisal process. This course covers the types of value, the valuation process, general and specific data analysis, residential real estate markets, neighborhood analysis, site and improvement description and analysis and the concept of highest and best use.
  • Liability Management for Appraiser - This course will provide knowledge to recognize sources of appraiser liability and obtain general background information of liability issues, understand how compliance with USPAP and Supplemental standards can diminish liability, knowing when to avoid inappropriate employment agreements and learn how to develop appropriate engagement letters, and determine how to react and what to expect if you are sued.
    These are the current requirements for renewing your Minnesota Real Estate Appraiser license. We will always provide the newest information available and will update the requirements as soon as there are changes.

  • To renew your Real Estate Appraiser License in the state of Minnesota, you are required to complete 30 hours of continuing education every 2 years.
  • Real Estate Appraiser licenses expire on August 31 of even numbered years. All continuing education must be completed prior to expiration.
  • A minimum of 7 hours must be the completion of the National USPAP Update Course. The remaining hours must be taken in courses that have been approved by the Board.
  • Licensees must attach the continuing education completion certificates to the renewal form. Licensees are encouraged to maintain a copy of continuing education certificates in their records.
